What is acne?
Acne is a chronic disorder of the hair follicles and sebaceous (oil-producing) glands of the skin which leads to the formation of comedones (whiteheads and blackheads), cysts, pus filled pimples and sometimes, scarring. The most commonly affected areas of the body are the face, upper chest, upper back and neck.
Causes of acne?
Acne can affect both men and women. The condition usually affects teens and young adults but can actually occur at any age. Many factors including genetics, hormones, diet and some medications play a role in acne.
Can my acne be treated?
Virtually everyone with acne can have clearer skin. Recent medical advances have resulted in new acne treatments, as well as using well-known treatments more efficiently, to get better results. Treatments for acne include topical medications such as benzoyl peroxide, retinoids, and topical antibiotics. Oral medications, which range from antibiotics to oral contraception and oral vitamin A may also improve acne.
At SK!N we will customize your acne treatment based on your lifestyle, age, severity and medication tolerance.
Treating Acne Scars
Unfortunately acne can often result in scarring. Once your acne is controlled, a dermatologist can help you to reduce the appearance of your scars. Chemical peels, micro-needling and fillers are some of the methods used to diminish the appearance of acne scars. Like treatment for active acne, a successful outcome often comes from a customized treatment plan.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions.
